Our Eyes are on YOU

King Jehoshaphat is faced with a great multitude coming from Edom, traveling by sea and entering Judah and behold they are already in Engedi. I remember when Brent Carl brought this message in October of 2007 at True Memorial in Rochester, he said "they are already in Dover !!"

And then, like all of us in the face of imminent danger or difficulty or despair, Jehoshaphat is afraid and, like we should do, set his face to seek the LORD.

Jehoshaphat proclaimed a fast and all of Judah assembled to seek help from the LORD; from all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD.

As Jehoshaphat prays in the assembly, his closing words are - O OUR GOD, will you not execute judgment on them (Edomites)? For WE ARE POWERLESS against this great horde (the enemy, the danger, the difficulty, the despair) that is coming against us.

And this is the message to us - WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO, BUT OUR EYES ARE ON YOU. (II Chronicles 20:12)

And so dear family, friends and prayer partners, as we have been praying for Aaron and Kim and Isabelle, Our EYES are on HIM !! We admit that we are powerless and we wait for Him.

More on this great lesson later !

The Best of Surrender...The Best of Stubborn Love

There is a kind of stubborn love that will keep loving no matter what the situation... There is stubborn mercy that refuses to give someone what they really deserve... There is stubborn grace that wants to keep giving even when hurts have been felt deeply .... There is stubborn peace that refuses to give in to turmoil in relationships and living... There is stubborn self control that says no matter what is going on around me, I will remain in self control, and give the control of the overall picture to the God who can see from start to finish. Surrender to the One True God who gave up everything for us when he had every right to stubbornly hold onto it speaks of surrender to His gentle will. As we push toward the goal of the prize set before us, and let God fashion us into the Image of His Son, we will experience the best of surrender and the best of His stubborn love for us !!

The Birds of the Air

Do not be anxious about your life…. Look at the birds of the air: They neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? … But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious…. Matthew 6:25-34

They are calling it a "Miracle" - the forced landing of the airbus on the Hudson River, and all 150+ "souls" are saved by the wisdom and courage of a seasoned pilot. There are a lot of scriptural analogies to this worthwhile tremendous news story. Suffice it to say for today, the one I am taking away is that our Heavenly Father knew those birds and loved those souls on that plane and the span of their lives were in His hand. How much more that we would trust Him with our lives each moment, being anxious for nothing. 'Nuff said !!
